Facial Fillers in NYC

Restore a more youthful appearance with hyaluronic acid fillers.

What Are Facial Fillers?

Looking for ageless skin rejuvenation? Our luxury medspa in New York offers two main categories of facial fillers: dermal fillers and collagen stimulators. Both these products provide volume replacement for aging skin and restore a more youthful appearance. Each filler is placed in the appropriate layer of the skin to achieve the desired effect.

Fillers are a great option for facial rejuvenation and to minimize the signs of aging. They are used in all age groups to target lines and wrinkles or correct asymmetrical facial features. Younger patients are receiving filler as pre-juvenation to prevent the formation of deeper folds and more advanced aging. Results from filler can last anywhere from 8-12 months, or even years, depending on the product. Once administered, you’ll be receiving compliments of your youthful appearance!

What are Dermal Fillers?

What are Collagen Stimulators?

Collagen stimulators contain a compound called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which helps to promote the body’s own collagen production. The product we use is called Sculptra. Collagen is an important protein that provides the support and framework for our cells and tissues to maintain their structure. As we age, collagen production decreases, leading to wrinkles, folds and decreased facial volume.

When Sculptra is injected, it stimulates the body to produce more collagen which gradually restores the skin’s structure and volume. This also contributes to improvement in skin quality, resulting in a more vibrant, youthful appearance. Results from Sculptra can last up to 2 years after a series of treatments. A common regimen consists of three injections spaced out over the course of 3-4 months. Results can be seen around 6-8 weeks after the final treatment.

We also offer Hyperdilute Radiesse, which is another collagen-stimulating product that we use specifically to improve crepey skin, fine lines and laxity. It is most commonly injected in the neck, decollete, arms and face to help with loose skin and textural changes. While it does not improve volume, it is an excellent choices for stimulating long-lasting collagen within the skin.

Benefits of FDA Approved Dermal Fillers

Facial fillers are a popular non-surgical option for restoring a refreshed, youthful appearance. These injectable dermal fillers are designed to restore lost volume, smooth facial wrinkles, and enhance natural facial contours while maintaining natural-looking results.

Some of the key benefits of dermal fillers include:

  • Restore volume in areas affected by aging
  • Smooth deep wrinkles, smile lines, marionette lines, and other skin folds
  • Improve the appearance of nasolabial folds, vertical lines, and frown lines
  • Enhance facial balance
  • Enhance lip volume
  • Improve jawline contour and chin projection
  • Provide natural-looking results
  • Stimulate natural collagen production
  • Support healthier facial skin
  • Allow for customized treatment based on individual facial anatomy and aesthetic goals

Many patients choose injectable fillers as part of their long-term aesthetic journey, either alone or in combination with other qualifying treatments.

Who is a Candidate for Dermal Fillers

Most adults looking to address signs of aging or enhance facial features may be good candidates for dermal filler injections. Specifically, you may be a candidate for facial fillers if you:

  • Have facial wrinkles, deep wrinkles, or skin folds caused by aging
  • Notice lost volume in areas such as the cheeks or temples
  • Want to soften nasolabial folds, smile lines, or marionette lines
  • Have sunken cheeks or hollow areas of the face
  • Want to enhance facial features while maintaining natural-looking results
  • Prefer a non-surgical alternative to procedures like facial fat grafting or other surgical options
  • Are in good overall health without certain medical conditions or bleeding disorders

During your consultation, we will review your medical history, evaluate your facial anatomy, and determine the appropriate type of filler and treatment areas to achieve your desired results.

How Do Facial Fillers Work?

Facial fillers use gel-like substances injected beneath the skin to add volume, smooth lines, and restore youthful contours. Many dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps the skin retain moisture and maintain elasticity. When a hyaluronic acid filler is injected, it attracts water molecules to the area, helping to restore lost volume and smooth wrinkles.

Other fillers, such as those containing poly-L-lactic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite, work differently by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production. Over time, this encourages the development of own collagen, which improves facial skin structure and elasticity.

Before Your Facial Filler Treatment

Preparing for dermal filler injections is typically simple, but your provider will review important guidelines before your initial treatment. During your consultation, your provider will review your medical history, discuss your aesthetic goals, and determine the best filler for your concerns. This careful planning helps ensure that facial fillers are placed safely and effectively in the appropriate treatment area, tailored to your unique facial anatomy.

In the days leading up to your appointment, patients may be advised to avoid certain medications or supplements that could increase the risk of bleeding or bruising. It is also important to inform your provider of any medical conditions, prior allergic reactions, or other health concerns that could affect your treatment. Patients are typically advised to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before the procedure and to arrive with clean skin, free of makeup or skincare products.

Recovery After Facial Filler Treatment

Recovery after facial fillers is typically quick and straightforward. Because the procedure is minimally invasive, most patients can return to their normal daily activities shortly after treatment. Following dermal filler injections, some patients may experience mild side effects around the injection site, including swelling, redness, mild bruising, or temporary tenderness. These reactions are common and usually resolve within a few days. Applying a cold compress can help reduce swelling and discomfort in the treated areas.

To help ensure optimal results after injectable fillers, patients are generally advised to avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours and avoid touching or massaging the treatment area unless instructed by their provider. Staying hydrated can also support the effectiveness of hyaluronic acid fillers, since hyaluronic acid helps the skin retain moisture and maintain volume. Results from hyaluronic acid filler treatments are often visible immediately after the procedure, with continued improvement as the product settles into the facial skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do facial fillers work?

HA fillers are composed of a gel-like substance made with hyaluronic acid, annaturally occurring compound within the body. The difference between hyaluronic acid in our body and fillers, is that in our body they occur in single molecules while the fillers are linked together to form strands of HA. Fillers are injected into the skin throughout the face to replace volume that is lost over time. As we age, we produce less natural HA and lose skin elasticity. HA fillers are a great tool to rejuvenate facial features and restore a youthful appearance. Depending on the brand, each HA filler is developed using different technology. We have carefully chosen HA fillers that integrate naturally within the skin and deeper tissues and can move with facial movements. HA fillers come in a variety of consistencies, ranging from lighter and thinner to heavier and robust. Each area of the face requires a unique filler to achieve the desired result. Filler is injected throughout the face to smooth wrinkles, fill deeper folds, provide hydration and balance facial features.

Will fillers make me look fake?

We have carefully selected HA filler brands that integrate naturally with facialnfeatures to ensure you never look fake. We do not overfill. We inject the HA fillers that best accentuate your natural beauty in quantities with which you arencomfortable and happy. This prevents the risk of looking done. Our main goal to customize a treatment plan that enhances your natural features and meetsnyour desired outcomes.

How should I prepare for my filler appointment?

We kindly ask that you avoid aspirin, Vitamin E, fish oil, ibuprofen, Aleve andnMotrin at least 1 week prior to your scheduled appointment. You may take Arnica supplements 1-2 days prior to your procedure which may help minimize the risk of bruising.

What can I expect during my filler appointment?

Your provider will perform a full consultation, where all available options will be discussed. We will collaboratively decide what areas to treat and how muchnproduct will be injected to achieve the desired outcome. Depending on the area, we inject fillers using a blunt-tipped cannula for your comfort and safety. We can also apply topical numbing cream or perform a local anesthesia block to further provide effective pain management. HA fillers contain lidocaine which further numbs the treatment area. After the procedure, we apply ice for 10 minutes to minimize swelling. Appointments last around 30-45 minutes.

What do I need to know after my filler procedure?

There is minimal to no downtime and you may resume normal activities such as returning to work right away. We recommend avoiding exercise and bending over for 24 hours after treatment. Some areas of the face have a higher risk of bruising such as the lips, temples and around the mouth. Bruising can last anywhere from 7-10 days, depending on the individual. If you experience bruising, we recommend taking Arnica supplements to assist with healing time.

How long does facial filler last?

HA fillers last anywhere from 8-12 months.

Can I get a facial after filler?

We recommend waiting at least 72 hours after treatment with filler to have a facial and advise you consult with your provider about any upcoming aesthetician appointments.

Can I get Botox at the same time as facial filler?

Botox and filler are often performed during the same appointment, as they have two different purposes. It is safe to get both procedures done at the same time.
