Q: What should I expect during a custom laser treatment?

Each custom laser appointment begins with a thorough consultation with your provider. This begins with an in-depth skin analysis and discussion of your concerns. We will then create a custom plan to fit your skin goals using a combination of procedures. Most laser treatments are gentle enough that they do not require topical numbing cream. If a CoolPeel procedure is in your treatment plan, then we will apply the cream to each treatment area for around 30 minutes to ensure you are comfortable throughout the procedure. The treatment is generally quick, taking around 15-30 minutes depending on how many areas are being treated. We send each patient home with a curated skincare regimen to facilitate the healing process and prolong results.

Q: How should I prepare for a custom laser treatment?

It is recommended you avoid unprotected sun exposure for at least 4 weeks prior to your appointment. We also ask that you avoid skincare products with active ingredients for 5 days before treatment. These include retinol, vitamin C, AHA and BHA products.

Q: Do custom laser treatments have any downtime?

Most laser treatments do not have any downtime, and patients can return to work or their normal daily activities immediately afterward. Your skin may appear pink for 24-48 hours after the procedure which naturally subsides. If we increase the intensity of a particular laser, the skin may be more sensitive and red afterward, but this will be discussed during your consultation appointment.

Q: When will I see results after a custom laser treatment?

We recommend a series of 3 laser treatments, spaced out 4-6 weeks apart, to see the maximum results. This allows for adequate collagen remodeling to occur and provides a long-lasting result.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic and inflammatory skin condition that primarily affects the face, causing redness, visible blood vessels and sometimes small bumps. It is often characterized by persistent flushing or blushing that can come and go. We can treat these concerns with the Denave laser, which uses a 585nm wavelength to target visible blood vessels and redness associated with rosacea. This can result in a noticeable improvement in the overall appearance of the skin, making it look less flushed and irritated. The laser also stimulates collagen production to help improve overall skin tone, contributing to a healthier appearance over time.

Skin Tightening

For patients with deeper lines and wrinkles, skin laxity and uneven texture, we use a unique combination of two laser wavelengths to achieve amazing skin rejuvenation. We are one of the first luxury medspas in NYC to offer the Helix, a new technology that utilizes both 1570nm and CoolPeel energies to result in maximum skin tightening. With this combination, patients can benefit from skin resurfacing effects of the CoolPeel laser and tightening effects of the 1570nm laser. This comprehensive treatment treats multiple skin layers for maximum skin rejuvenation.

The 1570nm wavelength is non-ablative, meaning it treats the deeper layers of the skin while leaving the surface intact. It is absorbed by the water content in the targeted tissue which leads to controlled heating in the dermal layers. This triggers new collagen formation as well as contraction of existing collagen fibers. Results include tightening and improvement of the skin’s overall firmness and elasticity.

CoolPeel is an ablative treatment that is known for its ability to remove the outermost layer of the skin and promote significant skin resurfacing. It delivers higher-energy laser beams that vaporize the epidermis to address concerns like fine lines, wrinkles and skin texture irregularities.

Pigment

If you have multiple different skin concerns such as brown spots, blood vessels or acne scars then the Motus AZ+ is the perfect all-in-one treatment. It uses two unique wavelengths, 755nm and 1065nm, that treat a wide variety of skin problems contributing to uneven skin tone.

The 755nm wavelength is associated with the Alexandrite laser, which is effective at targeting pigmented lesions and unwanted hair. It is well-absorbed by melanin, which is the pigment responsible for dark spots, age spots and freckles. It’s also highly effective for painless hair removal to permanently reduce unwanted hair in various areas of the body.

The 1064nm wavelength is associated with the Nd:YAG laser, which has a wider range of applications for skin rejuvenation and addressing various skin concerns. This wavelength can penetrate deeper into the skin, making it effective for stimulating collagen production in the dermis. This can result in improved skin tightness and firmness, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also targets vascular lesions, rosacea-associated redness and acne scars. This can lead to a smoother skin texture and improvement in pigment.
