Juvéderm
Juvederm is a popular dermal filler that works by adding volume to different areas of the face, including cheeks, lips, and the jawline. The Hyaluronic Acid (HA) in Juvederm works to plump up the skin to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines. The Vycross technology used in some Juvederm fillers allows for longer-lasting results compared to other HA fillers.
How Juvéderm Works
Juvederm offers two unique categories of HA fillers depending on the technology that is used to produce them, which includes Hyalacross and Vycross. HA fillers contain cross-linked chains of hyaluronic acid, and in the Hylacross category these chains are uniform in size. The Vycross fillers, however, contain HA molecules of both higher and lower weights. Depending on which area you want treated and how much correction you desire, fillers in both categories play a critical role.
HA fillers using Hylacross technology include Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm XC. The Vycross fillers are Voluma, Vollure, Volbella and Volux.
The newest addition to the Juvederm collection is Volux, which is the first FDA-approved filler for jawline correction. It is a thick and cohesive HA filler that can contour and define the jawline which can help to secondarily correct the look of a “double chin”.
