Juvederm is a renowned brand of dermal fillers used in the field of aesthetics to enhance facial features, reduce wrinkles, and restore youthful volume to the skin. Juvederm is composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the body, making it safe and well-tolerated by most patients.

How Does Juvederm Work?

Hyaluronic acid, the key ingredient in Juvederm, attracts and retains water, adding volume and hydration to the treated areas. As we age, our bodies produce less HA, leading to the formation of wrinkles and loss of facial fullness. Juvederm injections replenish diminished HA, plumping the skin and smoothing out lines and wrinkles.

The Juvederm family of products uses Hylacross and Vycross Technology. Vycross is a proprietary formulation developed by Allergan, the company behind the Juvederm brand. It refers to the specific cross-linking of hyaluronic acid molecules within the gel to allow for a smoother, more natural-looking outcome. Other dermal fillers use high molecular weight HA, which offers longer-lasting results but may have a thicker consistency. This can sometimes lead to a stiffer feel and a higher risk of swelling. According to Allergan, Juvederm Vycross, on the other hand, combines both high and low molecular weight HA, resulting in a more advanced and unique gel.

Juvederm Ultra XC and Juvederm Ultra Plus XC

Juvederm Volux XC
